We planted them late, they were tiny, it didn’t matter. They are huge and loaded with tomatoes! We can’t wait to taste them.
Thanks again Gloria

For the last few Saturdays we have been rained out of the market… we can’t take it anymore! Rain or shine we’ll be there tomorrow.
Also come by the store for the best (only) half smoke hot dogs in town w/ all the fix’ns. Right outside the shop 10:45 ’til there gone.

Sorry folks, because of the foul weather predicted for the morning we will not be at the Kensington market tomorrow. But don’t fret, we will have all the same goodies in the store right down the street.

‘Tis the season for this short lived spring delicacy. These wild leeks (with a strong garlic flavor) are fantastic in any dish that calls for leeks or garlic. Or just enjoy them straight up, lightly grilled or pickled (my favorite). We’ll have them both raw and prepared for the next couple of weeks.
On the subject of short lived spring goodies - we have been getting some of the best local asparagus that I have ever tasted from our pal Mike Klein at Good Fortune Farms. It is so tender and sweet you can eat it raw.
Also we are actively foraging for those gorgeous morels that pop in the MD country side (and back yards) this time of year. With all the rain we’ve been having there ought to be plenty this season.

As many of you already know we are in the process of creating a business plan for a new “bistro” on this side of town. Last Friday a major hurdle was passed when the new K-Town liquor bill hit the governor’s desk for a signature (it will come into effect June 1). Our local delagate Al Carr really worked hard to see that this bill passed. Thanks Al and thanks to all the folks who spoke out in support.
